Murang'a Seal appoints Yusuf Chipo as new head coach

Njogu stepped down as head coach after the team suffered a 3-0 defeat to Shabana FC, marking the latest change in leadership at the club.

Murang’a Seal Football Club has officially named former Harambee Stars assistant coach Yusuf Chipo as their new head coach following the resignation of John Njogu. Njogu stepped down after the team suffered a 3-0 defeat to Shabana FC, marking the latest change in leadership at the club.

Chipo takes over a team that has seen multiple coaching transitions in recent times. Before Njogu, the club was managed by Juma Abdallah, a highly experienced tactician who had previously coached Thika United, KCB, and AFC Leopards. Abdallah was appointed in January 2024 but parted ways with the team before the year ended.

Announcing the appointment, Murang’a Seal expressed confidence in Chipo’s abilities to lead the team to new heights.

“We are delighted to appoint Yusuf Chipo as our Head Coach,” the club stated.

Chipo brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously served as an assistant coach for the Kenyan national team, Harambee Stars, between 2008 and 2011. His coaching credentials also include leading a club to three consecutive Kenyan Premier League (KPL) titles between 2003 and 2005.

Speaking on his appointment, Chipo expressed gratitude and determination to drive the team forward.

“Seals is a great outfit, and I’m grateful for the opportunity I’ve been given. I also acknowledge the immense responsibility that comes with it. No duty is impossible—as long as we put in the work, we can achieve anything we set our sights on.”

With Chipo at the helm, Murang’a Seal looks forward to revitalising their campaign and making an impact in the league. Seals are currently relegation-threatened with 24 points at the table, sitting at position 16.
